The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program is designed for anyone who is interested in learning more about the emergency response system and caring for patients in the back of an ambulance en route to the hospital. Students will gain the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation to sick and injured patients. Among many others, topics covered in this course will include patient assessment cardiac arrest management, airway management, patient immobilization, diabetic emergencies, strokes, and seizures.

Students will have a blended learning experience, with lecture information presented online and live skills and clinical observation at Middlesex Hospital in the Emergency Department.

This course is offered in cooperation with Middlesex Hospital, Office of Emergency Medical Services and the CT Department of Public Health. The curriculum prepares students to take the exams to become Nationally Registered EMTs, and State of Connecticut certified at the basic Emergency Medical Technician level. This program is open to students age 16 and up.
